Multiple wins in world film events

There were two important world film events related to the Philippine movie industry held recently.

One is the 2nd Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Los Angeles, California and the 45th Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal.

At the 2025 MIFF which was postponed last February due to the big fires in the neighborhood of Los Angeles where its venue was located, Filipino stars flew to LA to join the significant event like Piolo Pascual who represented M-Zet Productions, Media Quest Ventures and APT Entertainment's "The Kingdom," Lorna Tolentino, Janice de Belen and Atty. Joji Alonso who represented "Espantaho", Arjo Atayde who came to promote his film "Topakk" for Nathan Films, among other entries from the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Other Filipino movies which were screened at the LA event were "Song of the Fireflies," "Green Bones," "And the Breadwinner is....," among others.

At the awards night, "Song of the Fireflies" bagged Best Film while Morisette Amon won Best Actress, Rachel Alejandro, Best Supporting Actress, Noel Comia, Jr., Best Supporting Actor for the film.

Zeth Fedelin romped away with the Best Actor award for Regal Films' "My Future You."

Crisanto Aquino won Best Director for "My Future You."

"Hello, Love, Again" was proclaimed Box-Office Worldwide Award.

Meanwhile, Judy Ann Santos took home the Best Actress plum at the recently concluded 2025 Fantasporto in Batalha Centro de Cinema in Porto, Portugal.
