After sending a tweet to her idols, Raphaella Retuta caught idol Bea de Leon’s attention and is now a scholar of the Ateneo De Manila University.

Former Ateneo Women’s volleyball team captain Bea de Leon paid it forward by granting a scholarship to her fan, who is now a fellow Atenean.

It was reported that de Leon, with the help of the Loyola Schools administration, granted an undergraduate scholarship to one of her and former Blue Eagle Thirdy Ravena’s biggest fans, who tweeted last April 25, 2022 her frustration about not being included in the quota of scholars of ADMU.

According to Tiebreaker Times, the tweet came from Raphaella Ayen Retuta, a graduate of high school with high honors who was also accepted into Ateneo de Manila University’s BS Management program but failed to get into the scholarship program due to limited slots.

“I wasn’t awarded with the scholarship I was aiming for – but glad to know that you want me, Ateneo. haay my dream school, in another life,” said Retuta, tagging De Leon and Ravena.

Retuta wanted to share the news to her idols by sending out a tweet, but little did she know that the message reached Bea and was impressed at her diligence and perseverance in studying.

De Leon reached out to Retuta and informed her that her family was willing to support her college education as her way of giving back to the school after also being a recipient of the athletic scholarship while studying.

On January 27, the grant was approved by the Loyola Schools through a Memorandum of Agreement signing ceremony attended by Bea herself and her mother Det with Ateneo officials in awarding the scholarship grant to Retuta, reported Spin.ph.

Retuta made sure that the kindness of her idol and the once- in- a -lifetime opportunity given to her was not for naught as she gathered a QPI of 3.92 during her first semester in college.
