The four-day Bahandi Women’s Trade Fair, initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office in Eastern Visayas (DTI-8), has generated a total sale of P3.064 million (cash and booked sale), exceeding its target of P2.5 million.

DTI Regional Director Celerina Bato said the trade fair, participated by 62-women-owned and women-led enterprises, is a way of honoring women in Eastern Visayas.

“This event is not just a marketplace but a powerful platform where innovation meets opportunity and where small businesses take centerstage,” Bato said.

Bato said these local entrepreneurs in the region are considered the driving force of economic growth, job creation, and innovation in Eastern Visayas.

During the trade fair, DTI highlighted the vital role of women-entrepreneurs and their contributions in reshaping the region’s business landscape.

In his message, PIA Regional Head Reyan Arinto also expressed his heartfelt congratulations and unwavering support to the activity as he emphasized the crucial role of women in economic development.

“This event serves as a powerful platform to celebrate and empower women entrepreneurs showcasing their innovation, resilience and significant contributions to the economy,” Arinto said.

He also emphasized that the Bahandi Women’s Trade Fair not only highlighted the vital role of women in driving economic growth in the region but also reinforces the Philippines’ commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society.

According to Anthea Aivi Borbon-Ancheta, DOST regional information officer, the top seller for food products was Todoc’s Special Native Delicacies with its moron product generating P212, 300 sales while GNJ Curtain Shop has recorded the highest sales for non-food products generating P344,671 in sales.

Locally-made products like tikog bags, handicrafts, pili nuts, leather items, tablea, suman, chocolate moron, keseo, calamansi juice and concentrate, dried fish, camote chips, peanut butter, are among the products sold during the trade fair held at the Robinsons North Tacloban on March 28 to 31.
