In a historic move, the Commission on Elections, the Public Attorneys Office, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology have come together to sign a groundbreaking Memorandum of Agreement to enable 56,679 registered Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

This signing, held at the BJMP Headquarters in Quezon City on Monday, October 2, was a collaboration that underscores the commitment of government agencies to uphold democracy and inclusivity in the electoral process, ensuring that even those in detention can have a say in shaping their communities. At the signing ceremony were of the Tripartite MOA marks a significant milestone in promoting democracy and ensuring that the voices of PDL are heard in our democratic system. Present were PAO's Atty. Persida Acosta, Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia, Comelec Commissioners Aimee Ferolino and Nelson Celis, and BJMP Chief Ruel Rivera.
