More stops and routes await COMET users as several Ayala Malls install charging and transport systems.

THOSE already frequenting the COMET minibuses already plying the streets of Manila would be happy to hear that several Ayala Malls will now be available as bus stops.

Just before the New Year, two Ayala Malls installed electric vehicle (EV) charging and transport systems as “an alternative mode of transportation that aims to lessen our carbon footprint.”

These are located at Ayala Malls The 30th in Pasig and Ayala Malls Circuit in Makati.

This month, Ayala Malls Manila Bay joins the fray as a COMET charging and loading area.

COMET, which is a fleet of electric buses from Global Electric Transport (GET Philippines, Inc.) has been operating in Davao and Manila since last year.

“Ayala Land is delighted to be part of this pioneering initiative through Ayala Malls,” Ayala Land President and CEO Bobby Dy states. The company is planning to also launch in Trinoma this month.

For now, the transport system at The 30th is only available as private shuttles.

Ayala Malls Circuit starts the DOE Loop route which passes through Ayala Triangle, Glorietta 5, Medical City, and Mandaluyong City Hall among others.

While Ayala Malls Manila Bay has routes to Baclaran and PITX. COMET users can hitch a ride from any route through the GETPASS app.

Back in 2021, local government agencies such as the City of Manila and the City Government of Valenzuela partnered with GET Philippines to launch a COMET fleet in their cities.

Department of Energy director Patrick Aquino acknowledged the importance of private firms in pushing for carbon neutrality.

“The government cannot do it alone. We need private partnerships that employ commercially viable and efficient solutions that will address our country’s need to hasten our move towards carbon neutrality.”
