Late yesterday afternoon, March 3, a tense and nervous mood and atmosphere was hanging in the air as another tragic news loomed in the local show business.
In social media, there was no name of the fatality mentioned by netizens from the biz.
But there were posts by unknown media entity Facebook accounts that award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose was dead although there were safety clauses in them.
Jaclyn's friend and colleague Gina Alajar warned obviously showbiz denizens to verify first before releasing any information.
"Eto na naman tayo eh… laging gusto makauna sa scoop… tumahimik muna kayo (Here we go again...always want to get the scoop first...keep your mouth shut please!!!)," Gina, whose FB Account Name is Tuding Alajar, exclaimed in her wall.
This was concurred by GMA Network Integrated News entertainment reporter Lhar Santiago.
"Agree. Hintayin muna ang pamilya," noted Lhar.
"Kinakabahan ako," said actress Chinggay Riego-Datu.
Then again, movie columnist Mell T. Navarro had already named her citing mainstream media as the chronicler of the news.
By around nine in the evening of March 3, 2024, it was officially announced in some news online outlets that Jaclyn, Mary Jane Guck in real life, was dead.
According to some sources, Jose was found lifeless inside her room in Quezon City.
No details yet of her death have been declared by her family.
She was 59.
