Aspiring cops get scholarships in Samar

The Samar Provincial Police Office is now providing educational assistance to young Samarenos who wish to join the ranks of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Recently, wwo criminology students from Samar College, Inc., in Catbalogan City became the first beneficiaries of the Samar police's scholarship program, called “Project LOVE” (Law Enforcement Officers Volunteers for Education).

The program seeks to provide educational assistance to aspiring police officers while strengthening the organization’s commitment to community development and youth empowerment.

The initial beneficiaries are Jester Nacional from Dolores village in San Sebastian, Samar, and Kyre Zadrix Doinog from Basud village in Calbayog City, Samar, both criminology students at Samar College.

Beneficiaries are selected based on their academic performance and economic status of their families.

SPPO provincial director P/Col. Antonietto Eric Mendoza emphasized in a statement on Monday the importance of education and community collaboration in shaping the next generation of law enforcement officers.

The SPPO and Samar College signed a memorandum of understanding on February 21 to formalize the implementation of the program.
