An abandoned and dying aspin (short term for Asong Pinoy) from the province of Leyte is now living in Spain!

The aspin Tokoy's journey began in the Philippines in a street of Baybay City on November 21, 2019, where it was rescued by Elizabeth Carpentero, who is also known as Lindalicious El.

Carpentero thought the dog will not survive that time because of his severe condition when she found him in the streets that night.

The hungry and dying dog was given milk, food and water and was brought immediately for checkup in the university where Carpentero was working.

The said university have College of Veterinary Medicine where they offer free consultation.

The rescued dog was diagnosed with severe mage infection and scabies infestation and Carpentero was determined to follow the medications given to the aspin.

“Para maipakita po sa lahat na pwede naman po palang pahalagahan natin ang mga asong Pinoy, hindi lang po yung mga hybrid,” Carpentero said in an interview.

Tokoy became a big help to Elizabeth in return. He was always by her side, giving her cuddles and making her laugh.

It was an answered prayer for Carpentero because she was diagnosed with anxiety disorder one month before meeting Tokoy and the rescue dog helped her feel calm and safe whenever she was feeling anxious.

Carpentero's life was about to take a more exciting turn when she had received an email from her supervisor where she was an intern in Spain that her research project has been approved and she was granted funding for doctoral researcher.

Carpentero did not hesitate to say yes to the opportunity, a dream she had long cherished. She couldn't leave Tokoy behind, so she brought it with her to Spain.

Now, Tokoy is a star in Spain! People love to see him and he is also called Guapo, a Spanish word which also means good-looking.

Tokoy's story has captured the attention of animal lovers worldwide, highlighting the importance of rescuing animals, especially our local dogs and the profound impact they can have on our lives.

“Wow ang Tokoy. Yehey. Sana po marami pang mainspire ang fur mom niya na all breed matters. Our very own Aspin has life too,” commented a netizen.
