The Department of Social Welfare and Development said it had given over ₱2 million in aid to victims of typhoon KARDING.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that more than ₱2 million in aid has already been given to communities affected by Typhoon KARDING.

Spokesman Romel Lopez said that ₱1.7 million of this amount was from DSWD itself, while ₱876,000 was from local government units and other partners, the GMA News reported.

A worth of total ₱1.1 billion budget was set aside by the DSWD for its disaster response and to provide assistance to people affected by Karding, Lopez said.

He said the DSWD's relief and assistance efforts are currently concentrated in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, National Capital Region (NCR), and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

He noted that for these areas, around 249,000 family food packets had been made available.

Lopez also mentioned that ₱5,000 to ₱10,000 in monetary help will be given to individuals whose homes were affected by the storm under the agency's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.

In the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's (NDRRMC) statement, three houses in Ilocos and Cordillera were reported damage-- two partially and one completely destroyed-- and about 16,476 families were affected by the onslaught of KARDING.

The NDRRMC said these people are from 948 barangays in Ilocos Region, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
