At 6:00 tonight, November 22, all roads lead to the Grand Duchess Hotel, the former Great Eastern Hotel, along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.

Many stars will descend from heaven for the premiere night of “Idol The April Boy Regino Story,” a biopic on one of the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icons.

For the record, it is the most unique if not the first time that a film will see its first public screening in a hotel.

“Grabe. Ibang klase. Ngayon lang ako nakarinig at makakakita ng isang pelikula na ipapalabas ang premiere night sa isang otel. Oh! It’s kinda different. This is my first time to hear and to see a film to hold its premiere night in a hotel),” exclaimed entertainment journalist Art Tapalla who unfortunately wasn’t invited to the exclusive event.

Just the same, Art didn’t take to heart his being uninvited to the occasion.

“Okay lang. Gano’n talaga (It’s okay. That’s how the cookie crumbles),” said Tapalla.

In his Facebook wall, Cyrus Khan, the Production Designer of the film project, noted that the premiere night will be held at the grand ballroom of Great Duchess Hotel.

Art echoed that there are giant screens installed in the hall to project the film in its entirety.

Expected to attend the colorful event are John Arcenas, Water Plus Productions’ new find who breathes life to April Boy Regino onscreen, Kata Yalung as Madelyn Regino, wife of the late singer, Dindo Arroyo, Tanya Gomez, Rey “PJ” Abellana, Irene Celebre as the mom, dad, father-in-law and mother-in-law of April Boy, respectively.

Fans of April Boy and moviegoers also expect the appearance of Imelda Papin who plays one of the doctors of April Boy when he was sick, Hero Bautista as record producer, Archi Adamos as the late disc jockey (DJ) Mike Enriquez, Aileen Arcilla Papin as the aunt of Madelyn, and a lot more.

Actress Jessica Pia, although not part of the film but friends to the stars and producers, will also be around in her rare public appearance.

“Idol The April Boy Regino” is directed by Efren Reyes, Jr. assisted by Jose “Kaka” Balagtas.

Marynette Gamboa is producer while Arman Reyes is associate producer and Lynn Madrigal is supervising producer.
