YNARES CENTER, Antipolo City – For the Ninth time, the municipality of Angono emerged as this year’s grand champion in the provincial government’s search for towns embarking on best environmental practices.

In an event culminating the 10th anniversary of the Ynares Eco System (YES) program, Rizal Gov. Nina Ricci Ynares named Angono as this year’s district champion based on stiff criteria which include planning, implementation and management of local solid waste management programs.

According to Ynares, Angono should serve as a model for other localities to emulate even as she particularly took note of the town's Zero-Basura program.

In a related development, Angono’s Barangay San Isidro hauled the most number of awards – Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Award, Greenest Barangay, Cleanest Waterways, and Model Functional MRF. Barangay San Pedro was adjudged the Best Barangay for its Community Garden.

Barangay Mahabang Parang was earlier elevated to the Hall of Fame.

“Salamat Gov. Nina at buong Sangguniang Panlalawigan, YES Team at sa mamamayan ng Angono. Congratulations sa ating lahat,” Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon said in a statement shortly after the event.
