ANGONO, Rizal – The lakeshore town regarded as the Arts Capital of the Philippines is no place for child abuse, says Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon moments after the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO) rescued three kids from their despotic guardians.

According to initial reports, the local government received information regarding the sad plight of three children who were living with relatives in Barangay Kalayaan, in this locality.

In a post uploaded on Facebook, MSWDO brought the victims to the LGU-operated Bahay Kalinga while awaiting instructions from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which would decide where they’ll take the victims for professional child care.

Interestingly a medico-legal report showed that the kids sustained multiple hematomas from the beating of their relatives.

According to MSWDO chief Luisita Vestra, an investigating team has been formed to look into the case. She likewise assured that their social worker would stand as the complainant against the suspects who are facing charges of Physical Abuse concerning Republic Act 7610 (Child Abuse Law).

“If the result of the investigation would show proof of maltreatment, the guardians of these children will be criminally charged,” Calderon said in the vernacular.
