As if its current motorcycle taxi fleet of 20,000 is not enough to choke Metro Manila’s streets, Angkas– the dominant player in the MCTs segment, is now preparing to join the transport network vehicle (TNVs) sector with four and six-wheeler cars targeting different niche markets.

In a townhall meeting with Angkas riders on Thursday, Angkas chief executive George Royeca said the four wheelers would be in an application called Angcars, a tie-up with motor vehicle producers Honda and Uno.

Angcars is designed to be an advanced ride-hailing app that seamlessly blends affordability with user-friendly navigation,” the Manila Standard quoted him as saying.

Royeca said the soon-to-be-launched app would introduce options like Angcars Economy and Angcars Plus, that allow passengers to effortlessly request four-seater or six-seater vehicles for a secure, efficient and hassle-free transport experience, just like Uber in the past.

GrabPhilippines and Joyride offer four-wheel TNVS in the country.

Royeca said for the motorcycle taxi app, the upcoming additions include Angkas Health and Angkas Padala service features.

Angkas Padala is an intuitive app equipped with digital seller tools, payment and disbursement access, along with nationwide courier services that address the emerging needs of the Filipino “e-preneurs”.

Royeca also disclosed the AngKash initiative to offer low-cost loans to assist riders in acquiring or upgrading their motorcycles.

The revamped AngKash aims to extend the initiative to a larger portion of the biker fleet. The program offers reduced interest rates to enhance financial flexibility and mobility.

Angkas Health would bring healthcare services to homes through a five-step process that includes home service blood testing by PRC-licensed medical professionals.

Angkas also introduced AngKash aimed to address financial inclusion issues among its bikers.

The company said the AngKash initiative was designed to offer low-cost loans to assist riders in acquiring or upgrading their motorcycles.
