Senator Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara is the new Secretary of Education, Malacañan announced Tuesday, July 2.
Angara will replace Vice President Sara Duterte, who resigned last June 19.
The senator currently serves as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance.
His notable legislative achievements, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), include the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act and the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013.
