The Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) has chosen the documentary film, "And So It Begins" as the country's entry in the selection to the nomination for the Best International Feature Film category of the 97th Oscars.
The FAP is the authorized national agency that selects the film to be submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the US organization that gives out the annual Academy Awards, also known as Oscars, the so-called Mother of All Awards.
"And So It Begins," directed by Ramona Diaz, is about the emergence of the grassroots political movement before the presidential polls in 2022 that sought free, honest and democratic elections in the country.
Will the Philippines finally get the most coveted yet most elusive nomination in the Oscars' Best Foreign Language Film section in 2025?
Since 1956, the Philippine movie industry has been sending entries to Hollywood, however, the country hasn't received any single nomination yet.
Will "And So It Begins" finally break the mischance?
