The Anti Money Laundering reported that a total of P550,000 was deposited to Joel Escorial, who is the alleged gunman in the Percy Lapid case.

The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) has confirmed that P550,000 was deposited to the account of Joel Escorial, the self-confessed gunman in the Percy Lapid slay case.

“Dumating ang report ng AMLC, at nilabas din nila yung sinabi ng gunman, ni Escorial (and it stated what the gunman said) very accurate. Andun talaga yung P550,000 na deposit within a certain amount of days na kanyang sinabi.” Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said in a radio dzBB interview.

The total amount was deposited within a two-week period, Inquirer reported.

Percival Mabasa, aka Percy Lapid, hosted an online broadcast program called “Percy Lapid Fire” at DWBL 1242 and is also a columnist for Hataw. He was shot dead while on his way home in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City last October 3.

Widespread outrage over his death led to a high-profile investigation.

On October 18, Escorial turned himself in and was introduced to the media. However, hours after Escorial's surrender, Cristito Villamor Palaña, the alleged middleman, was discovered dead inside the prison.
