Volleyball player Alyssa Valdez gave up her slot at PBB and is being replaced by Samantha Bernardo.
Alyssa Valdez gave up her spot a a housemate in the reality TV show “Pinoy Big Brother” to focus on her commitment as a national volleyball athlete, in which she is set to compete in the upcoming Hanoi Southeast Asian Games.
Valdez, one of the winners of celebrity Kumunity along with Anji Salvancion, made her announcement through a conversation with Big Brother in an episode of PBB as seen on its YouTube channel yesterday, May 1.
“Dito po sa labas ng inyong bahay, meron pong mga commitments na kailangan din po akong gampanan para po sa ating bansa. Magpi-prepare po ang national team para sa nalalapit na SEA Games,” she said. “Sa Vietnam po ito gaganapin and hindi ko rin po masasabi kung kailan po matatapos, kaya naman po hindi ko po magagampanan at hindi po ako makakabalik sa loob ng inyong bahay.”
After her announcement, it was revealed that beauty queen Samantha Bernardo of Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10 who placed third among the final five will serve as her replacement.
“Tinatanggap ko po ‘yon at isang malaking karangalan na ako ang kapalit ni sissy at laban natin ito, sissy”, Bernardo said.
Valdez then acknowledged her replacement as she also gave a message to Bernardo in a video message.
"Sissy Sam, hello! Alam kong nagtataka ka kung bakit ako nandito pero I just want to congratulate you sa muli mong pagpasok sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya," Valdez said.
"Alam kong ibibigay niyo ni Anji (Salvacion) ang best niyo para ma-represent ang batch natin sa loob ng bahay ni Kuya. Kaya naman, good luck and see you sa outside world soon," she added.
The SEA Games is scheduled to happenfrom May 12-23 in which the national teams have been preparing for months, including an overseas training in Brazil for the women’s team.
