The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) was very displeased with one of its personnel who was arrested for cellphone theft.

OTS Administrator Undersecretary Ma. O. Aplasca said that the incident was "another blow that undermine the management's effort to cleanse its rank."

The suspect, identified as Rudolf Aquinde, took the mobile phone at a charging station owned by a whellchair attendant at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

Alquinde was caught on the CCTV taking the cellphone at the charging station at the arrival area and quickly placed inside his safety vest.

The owner, who authorities did not identify, went to the Airport Police Department of the Manila International Airport Authority upon learning that his cellphone was stolen at the charging station. Immediately, authorities reviewed the video footage.

The airport police invited Aquinde for questioning. He was then at the Baggage Make-up Area, still wearing the same vest.

During investigation, Aquinde took out the cellphone from his pocket and surrendered it to the airport police. He was later placed under arrest. Appropriate criminal and administrative charges was filed against him.

Aplasca, who always reminds OTS personnel to be honest at work, said that in the past, most of the things reported missing had been returned to owners.
