Local airlines are expecting an increase in passengers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 as several airlines from NAIA Terminal 4 will be temporarily moving to Terminal 2 starting November 5.

NAIA Terminal 4, the old Manila Domestic Passenger Terminal, will be closed for renovation beginning November 6.

This closure is part of an ongoing initiative to rehabilitate the terminal led by New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC).

"Expect a busier Manila Terminal 2 from November 5. We anticipate a higher passenger volume at Terminal 2 as three airlines transfer their domestic flights from another NAIA terminal," according to Philippine Airlines (PAL).

PAL suggests that passengers utilize the online check-in feature and arrive at the airport with ample time to spare, a minimum of three hours before their domestic flight, to allow for any potential delays in airport procedures.

The affected flights include routes to and from Busuanga, Caticlan, Cebu, Legazpi, Masbate, Naga, San Jose, Siargao, and Surigao.

The renovation of the Terminal is intended to tackle outdated infrastructure and improve the overall travel experience for passengers.

The San Miguel-led NNIC announced in a press release that it will focus on security improvements, better passenger flow, and facilities.

The renovated terminal is expected to reopen in February 2025.

Terminal 4 serves an average of 2,900 passengers daily, with 1,400 arrivals and 1,500 departures, making up 2.23 percent of the terminal's overall daily passenger traffic.
