AirAsia PH welcomed the Civil Aeronautics Board's (CAB) decision to lower fuel surcharge rates from Level 6 to Level 5, as this will help and save additional costs to the air riding public.

Air travellers can heave a sigh of relief with the reduction in fuel surcharge.

AirAsia Philippines, a subsidiary of AirAsia Berhad, has announced that the Civil Aeronautics Board's (CAB) will start implementingthe level 5 surcharge rates for domestic and international flights.

The move"is expected to be advantageous for guests who will be booking their flights from next month to later dates, as they will not have to bear any additional fuel surcharge costs."

According to AirAsia, the jevel 5 fuel surcharge is relatively lower than this month's level 6. Air travellers can now travel with only an additional surcharge of P151.00 to P542.00 for domestic flights and P498.03 to P774.75 for international flights depending on the distance.

Other local airlines are expected to comply with the CAB's decision.

"Any form of reduction in air travel costs is a big help for all our guests as they can allot this to additional baggage allowance or pasalubongs - which can be particularly helpful for people travelling on a budget or for families travelling together," AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Country head Steve Dailisan said.
