AirAsia lands in top 20 world safest low-cost airlines list

AirAsia Philippines humbly adds another feather in its cap as it was among the top 20 list of safest low-cost airlines for 2023, according to AirlineRatings.com, one of the most popular one-stop airline safety and product rating review websites.

AirlineRatings.com has named AirAsia Philippines as among the top 20 safest low-cost airlines in the world for 2023.

It received a perfect 7 rating for both Safety and Covid-19 compliance.

The carrier also bested other local and international low-cost airlines, in parameters like 1) no record of incident over the past two years, 2) no crash records over the past five years, 3) positive results of audits conducted by the governing body of aviation and 4) fleet age.

This recognition from AirlineRatings.com is both a reminder and a motivation for all of us to raise the bar even more in the service of all our dear guests," AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said in a statement.

According to AirAsia Philippines Public Affairs Manager Carlo Carongoy, the carrier is already on its path to a strong recovery, opens 2023 with an overall load factor of 75 percent which was achieved in the first 10 days of January. Caticlan (Boracay) tops the list of most booked domestic destinations with an 85 percent load factor, followed by Tacloban (75 percent), and Cebu (70 percent).

Carongoy added that Incheon, South Korea still is the most preferred international destination among Filipino travelers, with its flights originating from Cebu and Manila achieving a 97 percent and 95 percent load factor, respectively.

Osaka, Japan, another preferred travel destination, is now at 75 percent load factor. Off to a strong Q1, AirAsia is also set to open its Tokyo (via Narita International Airport) route next month, Carongoy said.

To entice more guests to travel, AirAsia is announcing its New Year, New Deals Sale which offers P71 one-way base fare to domestic and international destinations such as Osaka, Tokyo, Taipei, Kaoshiung, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Incheon.

The low-cost airline said that the New Year, New Deals Sale is available for booking until January 15, 2023, for travels from January 9, to July 31, 2023.

Some of the top 20 safest low-cost airlines for 2023 are: Air Arabic, AirAsia Group Allegiant, Air Baltic, Easyjet, FlyDubai, Frontier, Jetstar Group, Jetblue, Indigo, Ryanair, Scoot, Southwest, Spicejet, Spirit, Vueling, Vietjet, Volaris, Westjet, and Wizz.
