MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Sunday welcomed the results of the latest OCTA Research survey, which showed that 75 percent of adult Filipinos strongly trust the military, reflecting public confidence in its commitment to national security and service.
“The AFP attributes this high level of trust to our steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation, upholding our constitutional mandate and ensuring transparency and professionalism in all our operations,” AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said in a statement.
The "Tugon ng Masa" survey, conducted by OCTA Research Nov. 10 to 16, 2024 with 1,200 respondents, highlighted strong public approval of the AFP’s external defense efforts, disaster response and peacekeeping initiatives.
"The survey results further reflect public approval of the AFP’s performance in Q4 2024, underscoring the institution’s role in fostering peace and stability amid evolving security challenges. Your AFP remains committed to strengthening our relationship with the people through continued service, modernization and adherence to democratic values," she added.
Padilla said they are grateful for the unwavering trust and support of the Filipino people.
The latest OCTA survey also revealed that 76 percent of Filipinos are satisfied with the AFP's overall accomplishments, leading to a net satisfaction rating of +74.
The military's rating has remained consistently high since June 2024, reflecting public approval of the AFP’s efforts.
Trust in the AFP is equally strong, with 75 percent of Filipinos expressing trust in the military, resulting in a net trust rating of +73.
The survey highlighted strong support for the AFP’s modernization, with 79 percent of respondents emphasizing the importance of enhancing the military’s capabilities for national security.
It also underscored the importance of international partnerships as 78 percent of Filipinos expressed support for strengthening alliances and cooperation with other like-minded nations.
The survey likewise showed that 83 percent of respondents believe in the AFP’s political neutrality and view it as essential for ensuring safe, fair and peaceful elections. (PNA)
