After getting restricted from Instagram and Twitter the past weeks, Ye has been dropped by Adidas over anti- Semitic comments all over his social media

Adidas officially dropped its partnership with rapper Ye, Kanye West’s artist name, following a series of controversies and his anti- Semitic comments on his social media accounts.

The German sports brand announced this on Tuesday, October 25, saying that the company “does not tolerate antisemitism” after the rapper was suspended from Instagram and Twitter over offensive posts.

"Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech," the sports brand said.

"Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness," it added.

The American rapper has been restricted from Instagram by Facebook owner Meta on October 7 due to an anti-Semitic post suggesting that fellow rapper Diddy was controlled by Jewish people – an anti- Semitic trope.

This followed his Twitter account getting locked on October 9, after the social media platform removed one of his tweet, citing that it violated its policies against hate speech, where said he was going “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”

“Adidas has to face up to its historic responsibility not just as a German company, but also as a company that was tangled up with and profited from the National Socialist dictatorship,” Josef Schuster, president of the Central Council of Jews told the tabloid newspaper Bild on Tuesday.

Before the inevitable fallout, Adidas put their deal for review after West’s controversial Paris show earlier this month at which models took to the catwalk wearing “White Lives Matter” shirts, in which the company has tried to make “repeated efforts to privately resolve the situation.”

The company is expecting a drop of $250 million on Adidas’ net income this year due to cutting ties with Ye which produced sportswear, jackets and trainers, including the highly popular Yeezy Boost trainers.

Despite this, Adidas insisted that it will “terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies.”
