TUMAUINI, Isabela--The heavy downpour that caused slippery and wet roads brought about by tropical depression "Bising" Wednesday morning in this town didn't deter the filial piety of the Mejia and Clemente families to walk on foot their beloved departed kin to the parish church for final rites.
The cortege led by actress Vida Verde, Catherine Clemente Mejia in real life, the remains of their gay relative John Jenally Clemente Mejia who recently died of breast cancer were brought to the St. Matthias Parish Church to be officiated with a holy mass and later laid to his resting place at the public cemetery.
"Mahal na mahal ko si John. Halos araw-araw, nagvi-video call kami (I love John so much. We talked online almost everyday)," lamented Vida.
Before his death, John was an immigrant in Alaska.
Verde said he was a very kind and compassionate person.
"I will sorely miss him," the actress known for the skin flicks "Nene," "Katawang Putik," "Raid Casa," among others.
"John had always encouraged me to continue my acting career," informed V8da who slated to appear in an art film about the life of a spiritual healer to be directed by visual artist, writer, mentor, documentarist and polymath Bon Labora.
