Chery Tiggo Crossovers will bring back Aaron Velez as head coach after two conferences under Clarence Esteban.

After a change of head coach in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference, the revamping Chery Tiggo Crossovers seem to regain its glory by running it back again with former head coach Aaron Velez.

"The experienced coach is returning to take the wheel and lead the Chery Tiggo Crossovers back to the top this coming #PVL2023 All-Filipino conference on February 4," the team announced on its social media pages on Monday evening as reported by Spin.ph.

Since steering the team to a championship in the PVL’s maiden year as a professional sporting league during the 2021 Open Conference in the Ilocos Norte bubble, coach Velez and the Crossovers have yet to reproduce the same results in the following conferences and even placed eight at the 2022 Open Conference.

This led to a change in the man at post as Velez was made team manager with Clarence Esteban was made to helm the players prior to the 2022 PVL Invitational Conference.

The Crossovers then continued to struggle in the Invitational Conference, placing eighth yet again, but with the right mix of players and the help of their import Jelena Cvijovic and top scorer Mylene Paat, the team managed to land a spot in the Final Four of the Reinforced tournament.

Velez will be calling the shots for a team that had major moves during the off season, notably the exit of one of their tenure players in Dindin Manabat-Santiago who ended up signing with the Akari Chargers under coach Jorge Souza de Brito.

However, a new power-hitter will join the club as they acquired Ponggay Gaston from the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, together with other new signees Bingle Landicho and Seth Rodriguez, who will make their Chery Tiggo debut in the upcoming PVL All Filipino Conference starting on February 4.
