Regino Flores, also known as Reggie Flores of “Magandang Gabi, Bayan,” “Rated K,” “Balitang K,” among others and I, an original field reporter, writer, VO, co-producer for the “Star News” segment of “TV Patrol” have always been running the same wavelengths.
That’s why when we saw each other at the recently concluded reunion of “Lumang TaO” and “Bagong Tao” of ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs (INCAD) held at the Studio 1 Plaza and Dolphy Theater before the iconic tower and stomping ground of the network are demolished, we had fun and meaningful exchanges of ideas.
Although I was ahead of Reggie in working for ABS-CBN by a couple of years, it felt like we started our separate productions at the same time. Modesty aside, we made history in ABS-CBN as prolific storytellers.
Reggie still does prod work and dabbles in helping farmers in Mindanao by endorsing Coco Gents from Alegria, Surigao del Norte. “Magandang istorya (A good story) for an audio-video project,” said Flores who has worked patiently and successfully with Korina Sanchez and Noli de Castro.
Our TV sense is an important factor in our profession as broadcasters which we will carry as long as we can.
