Due to unforeseen circumstances, CARELESS Productions and Eventscape Manila had to cancel some groups that were supposed to play in the event

What should have been a Wet and Wild weekend turned into a big letdown for some concertgoers as some of the acts in the lineup of Wavy Baby Festival failed to perform.

Three Cebuano acts were cut from Wavy Baby’s lineup which happened over the Sinulog weekend on January 13 and 14 at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City, Cebu.

According to NME The Sundown was the first group to cancel their set in the said festival, followed by other Cebu-based artists Sepia Times and Three Legged Men followed suit, while The Wonggoys did not comment on the issue.

The band cited that the development was due to “reasons beyond their control,” while Vincent Eco, a member of the band, could not help but express his disappointment saying, “Yet again, [brands] will hold concerts in Cebu but Cebu bands were made disposable.”

James Reid, CARELESS' Chairman and co-founder, posted a video on the festival’s official Instagram page, apologizing for the mishaps that happened over the weekend that caused technical issues, safety requirements, and schedule conflicts.

"Despite all the challenges that came our way in Sinulog, I decided we needed to push through and see Wavy Baby come to life. [...] I do want to apologize to you guys as well, I did everything in my power to give everyone the very best experience despite the rain and technical difficulties," Reid said as reported by Band Wagon.

"I would like to sincerely apologize to our Cebu artists, Wonggoys, Three Legged Men, The Sundown, and Sepia Times for not being able to share the stage with you this time. But thank you for allowing us to come to your hometown and throw this amazing experience. I promise we'll make it up to you. You guys are all legends, thank you.”

Apparently, the Cebuano acts were not the only sets to be cut from the concert as Reid added in his video: “To our international and Manila acts – Yultron, Bag Raiders, Very Done and Motherbasss, we love you and appreciate your understanding.”

Meanwhile, Eventscape Manila also posted its own statement, detailing that unforeseen circumstances such as logistical challenges and the inclement weather led to immediate changes and compression of time.

"We also had to comply with sudden regulations to strictly end Day 1 and Day 2 earlier than expected. This forced us to immediately compress show time, resulting to several bands being unable to perform, including some Manila and international artists, not just Cebu bands... Nonetheless, we apologize to everyone, especially to the affected artists and their disappointed fans," explained Eventscape Manila.
