It only happens once in a million when a person gets to celebrate his or her birthday every four or seven years unless it falls on a century year where it cannot be divided by four.
Award-winning theater, television, movie, and social media artist Frank G. Rivera (a native of Paete, Laguna which makes him a CALABARZON guy) is a leap year birthday celebrator as he was on February 29.
It calls for a celebration so his friends and colleagues in the media industry recently gathered at the Manila Clock Tower Museum, a repository of immense multisensory artifacts, right on the topmost level of the Manila City Hall.
And since it was a memorable and rare occasion to celebrate Frank’s natal day, a “Tertulia at Sining,” a soiree, and an art show were held in his honor.
Many of his bosom friends like Cecil Guidote-Alvarez, Joel Lamangan, Vim Nadera, Jerry O’Hara, Peewee O’Hara, Joel Saracho, Alice Vergara, Art Tapalla, Jao Mapa, CJ Andaluz, Rene Napenas, Jun Laurel, Danny Vibas, Arthur Casanova, Alwyn Ignacio, Phil Panganiban, Anton Juan, Nazzer Salcedo, among others, greeted and offered him songs, dances and theatrical acts.
Cecil performed a monologue on the environment, Joel narrated his closeness to the celebrated, Jao sang a song from one of Frank’s musical dramas, Nazzer showcased his tenor prowess, Anton gave his notes on the birthday boy by a casual conversation with him and Rivera’s former theater students performed tableaus with satirical gusto from the direction of CJ.
Happy Birthday, Frank!
