ROXAS CITY — Nestled in Capiz, this capital geared up for a grand celebration as it marks its 73rd charter anniversary from May 10 to 12. Under the stewardship of Mayor Ronnie T. Dadivas, the city held a jubilant affair filled with gratitude, local flair, and cultural richness.

In preparation, Mayor Dadivas, at a recent press conference held at the Panublion, expressed the city's excitement. "We will have a celebration and giving thanks, showcase the local talent, history, and culture." However, he emphasized the city's financial constraints, noting that the recent Capiztahan festivities had left the city coffers a bit thin.

The historical significance of Roxas City's charter dates back to May 12, 1951, when it officially became a chartered city through Republic Act 603, signed into law by President Elpidio Quirino.

The city, originally known as Capiz, was renamed in honor of President Manuel Acuña Roxas, a revered figure in Philippine history.

Throughout the three-day celebration, residents and visitors alike experienced a vibrant array of activities. The festivities kicked off with the Kaadlawan Cultural Show and the Kaadlawan Food and Music Festival Opening, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of local culture.

Day two was even more exciting at People's Park, with events like the Kaadlawan Bugsaganay sa Bayrox, that showcased the city's musical prowess, and the Kaadlawan Sunset Session featuring talented local DJs.

The evening culminated in the Kaadlawan Blow Out, that featured performances by local bands and fire dancers, along with indulgent treats from the Chocolate Factory.

Dr. Bryan Marie Argos, the City Tourism Officer, highlighted another exciting aspect of the celebration: the launch of Mutya sang Sinadya, a precursor to the beauty pageant that dazzled audiences during the Sinadya Festival 2024 in December.

During the preparations of Roxas City commemoration of its 73rd charter anniversary, everyone was invited to join in the festivities that celebrated not just its history and heritage, but also the vibrant spirit of its people.
