Annual Niyogyugan fest pays tribute to Quezon Farmers

Quezon Province Gov. Angeline Tan spearheaded the kick-off ceremony for the annual Niyogyugan Festival at the Perez Park, in front of the Capitol Building in Lucena City.

This honors and celebrates the contribution of Quezonians Farmers in the business and agricultural industry, specifically coconut planters, in the province and the meaningful promotion not only of agricultural-produced products but of Tourism, as well.

The Tagayan Booth highlighted the opening ceremony as Quezon is known to be the main producer of renowned Lambanog, a coconut liquor derived tuba or distilled from coconut sap.

There are also: Tara na sa Quezon Information Booth; Agri-tourism Booths, and MLQ Photo and Art Exhibits. The booths feature unique products of every town and city in Quezon Province.

Other activities awaiting the tourists are the Coronation of Ginoo at Binibining Niyogyugan 2023 and the Festival Wear Competition of the pageant happened on the evening of the kick-off ceremony.

Also featured in the celebration are: Coco Summit, Cocolympics. 1st Quezon Elite Niyogyugan Festival Motorcycle Challenge, Niyogyugan Triathlon, Coco Zumba Dance Contest, Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, Kalusugan sa Niyogyugan, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Job Fair, Painting Contest, Declamation and Oration Contest, Tagayan Dance Contest, Gala Night and Fashion Show, MLQ Quiz Bee, MLQ Lecture Series, and Grand Parade Float and Street Dance Competition. These will be done in a week-long festival celebration from August 9 to 19.

The Niyogyugan Festival, coined from niyog or coconut, became one of the most loved festivals that gathered local farmers and their delicacies from different cities and municipalities in the province. The term "yugyog" means dancing.
