900 PNP personnel penalized over various complaints

The Philippine National Police has penalized 908 personnel in the past eight months due to various misconduct cases that cut across ranks and include serious criminal offenses.

Records from August 26, 2025, to April 15, 2026, show 326 personnel were dismissed from service. This includes 32 police commissioned officers, 289 police noncommissioned officers and fiv‌e non-uniformed personnel.


Another 53 were demoted, 199 suspended and 26 reprimanded. A total of 304 cases ended in dismissal or exoneration after due process.


Abs‌ence witho‌ut official leave leads the causes of dismissal with 118 cases. Other grave offenses follow with 44, while robbery or extortion accounts for 33.


Cases involving arbitrary detention, unlawful arrest, violation of domicile and maltreatment of prisoners reached 24. Violations of Republic Act 9262 totaled 23.


The offenses extend further.


Records include murder, illegal discharge of firearms and graft-related violations. Cases of rape, kidnapping and estafa also appear. ‌


Drug-related violations reached 24, with 13 personnel testing positive and 11 linked to illegal drug activities. Other violations include hazing with 12 cases, planting of evidence with eight and torture with two.


“All underwent administrative and legal processes before penalties were imposed,” the PNP said.


In a statement, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartate‌z Jr. said the cases represent only a small portion of the force.


“Ang nakararami sa ating mga pulis ay patuloy na naglilingkod nang may propesyonalismo, katapatan, at dedikasyon sa tungkulin,” he said.
