Despite the current glitches and issues in the National ID system, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) continues to remind Lagunenses to have themselves registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

This, as data provided by the PSA’s Laguna office showed that over 89 percent of the total population of Laguna province has registered with the PhilSys as of January 31, 2025.

In an infographic released by the PSA in its Facebook page on February 12, the state statistics agency revealed that over 2,671,549 residents in Laguna province have registered with the PhilSys.

This is equivalent to 89.5 percent of the total population of the province as of the 2020 census, according to the PSA.

Calamba City registered the highest number of PhilSys registrants, with 469,340 registrants as of January 31.

This was followed by the cities of Santa Rosa (346,930 registrants), Biñan (281,650 registrants), and San Pedro (256,044 registrants).

On the other hand, the town of Famy registered the lowest number of PhilSys registrants with 13,114 registrants, followed by the towns of Luisiana (15,343 registrants), Rizal (15,957 registrants), Mabitac (17,968 registrants) and Pakil (17,736 registrants).

Except for Rizal, these towns are located in the predominantly rural eastern portion of Laguna province, where transportation and communication difficulties have hampered efforts to have residents registered with PhilSys.

Amid the current backlog in the issuance of physical National IDs, the PSA reported that it has issued 1,836,850 ePhilIDs, or “soft copies” of the National ID.

This translates to 68 percent of Lagunenses who have already registered with PhilSys.
