Year in, year out, Famas or the Filipino Academy for Movie Arts and Sciences has been figuring in controversies that have been challenging or eroding its honorable image and credibility.
In the recently concluded 72nd Famas awards night the blunder lies in its failure to fulfill its commitment to make her a presenter of one award with Tirso Cruz III.
According to one of Eva's children, Dr. Fernando de la Pena, his mom was advised by Famas as early as two months ago to familiarize herself with the script.
Then Darren's family was asked to buy Famas dinner tickets worth P5k each which the iconic actress bought four for her companions.
When Tirso had come up onstage it wasn't Eva who walked beside him but a new singer.
Eva kept her cool but decided to leave the event unceremoniously.
According to Fernando, Famas' complete snobbery of her mom was disrespectful.
After the incident, veteran actress Divina Valencia was fuming mad over Famas.
"Katarantaduhan ang ginawa nila (What they did was vicious)," commented Divina.
In response, Famas issued an apology saying that the production staff couldn't locate where Darren was when her turn had come.
"Bakit hindi nila malo-locate, e, katabi ko lang si Eva sa upuan (Why couldn't they locate her when she's just beside me?)," clarified Valencia.
"Dapat ibalik ng Famas ang ibinayad ni Eva (Famas should return her money she bought with the dinner tickets)," urged Divina.
