The 59th Directors General of Civil Aviation Conference Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA) is being held in Cebu City, where government officials, airline executives, aviation infrastructure developers, and safety experts are gathering to talk about policies, conceptual matters, and worldwide trends to ensure the continued growth of aviation in the region.
The event, which takes place from October 14 to 18, is an important opportunity to discuss challenges and new developments in the aviation industry.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) serves as the governing body of the esteemed event.
The theme for this year's conference is "Shaping the Future of Aviation: Sustainable, Reslient, and Inclusive."
The Philippines serves as the official aviation governing body of the country, representing the nation in the global aviation sector.
"Hosting the DGCA is a great opportunity to showcase the Philippines' commitment to aviation safety and security, as well as its pledge to a sustainable future in aviation," CAAP Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo said.
This year's theme is deemed timely and relevant on both global and regional scales.
"The industry is adaptive to change and supports development while mitigating the impacts of climate change," Tamayo said.
The meeting emphasized aviation safety, security, and infrastructure advancement, with industry vendors and service providers presenting their newest products and solutions.
This is the fourth time that the Philippines has hosted the DGCA, following its previous hosting in Manila (1960, 2022) and the 52nd DGCA in 2015.
