The EMS Group of Companies, in collaboration with a European counterpart, is poised to establish a production plant in Batangas catering to female consumer goods. The plant is set to generate approximately 5,000 new job openings.
President and CEO of the EMS Group of Companies, Ferdinand Ferrer, disclosed to reporters last week that they are in the final stages of securing the partnership with the European entity.
"We anticipate commencing the documentation process for the partnership by June," Ferrer revealed during the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s general membership meeting at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati. He refrained from divulging the precise investment figures.
While the facility infrastructure is already in place in Malvar town, Ferrer mentioned the need for modifications to accommodate the production of the new product line.
The EMS Group of Companies has been operating in the Philippines for over 15 years, boasting approximately 18,000 employees across its four local subsidiaries. These specialize in electronics manufacturing, training equipment, learning solutions, and recruitment.
Ferrer disclosed ongoing efforts to attract other foreign enterprises, including one American and one Japanese firm, seeking to relocate their assembly operations from China.
He highlighted a burgeoning global trend in business circles dubbed "ABC" - an acronym for "Anything but China" - reflecting the growing exodus of companies from the East Asian nation.
