The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported on Monday, Jan. 13, that 4,907,584 minimum wage workers across 14 regions received wage increases in 2024.
According to DOLE's data, private sector employees received daily wage increases ranging from P21 to P75 as part of the wage orders implemented nationwide.
These adjustments affected the National Capital Region (NCR), the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Regions 1 (Ilocos), 2 (Cagayan Valley), 3 (Central Luzon), and 4-A (Calabarzon).
They also encompassed Regions 4-B (Mimaropa), 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), 8 (Eastern Visayas), 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), 10 (Northern Mindanao), 12 (Soccsksargen), and Caraga, with the rates tailored to meet the specific requirements of each region.
However, wage adjustments in Bicol and Davao are currently on hold; Bicol delayed its assessment due to the impacts of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, while discussions in Davao are still ongoing, with results expected by January 2025.
As of Dec. 2, 2024, the minimum wage in Region 8 has increased by 30 pesos.
