ROXAS CITY — In a significant step against crime, police arrested three individuals for illegal drugs and firearms possession in separate operations in President Roxas, Jamindan, and Roxas City on Monday, May 20.
In Barangay Hanglid, President Roxas, a man known as alias Toto was arrested after a motorcycle accident led police to find an unlicensed firearm and illegal drugs in his possession.
When police responded to the accident, they discovered a .45 caliber pistol loaded with six live rounds, a magazine, and three sachets of suspected shabu. Toto is currently under hospital arrest, and the seized items are now with the President Roxas Municipal Police Station for proper handling.
In another operation, police conducted a drug buy-bust in Barangay Punta Tabuc, Roxas City, leading to the arrest of Mark Delco, 29, a former inmate. Delco had previously been jailed in 2022 for violating RA 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
During this operation, authorities recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine with three live rounds, six sachets of suspected shabu, P5,000 in buy-bust money, and a motorcycle. Delco is now in the custody of the Roxas Component City Police Station, facing charges under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Additionally, in Barangay Agambulong, Jamindan, police arrested a laborer known as alias “Hapon,” 34, of Barangay San Vicente. Hapon was caught with five sachets of suspected shabu and P1,500 in buy-bust money. He will also be charged with violating Republic Act 9165.
These arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to tackle illegal drugs and unlicensed firearms. The swift actions of the police not only help in curbing crime but also in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
