Aside from Manila, the 2025 Japanese Film Festival will also usher in Cebu and Davao.

JFF is back with a fresh lineup of memorable Japanese movies which will be regionally presented by the Japan Foundation, Manila.

At SM Cebu and SM Davao, this year’s JFF will hit their respective cinemas on February 14 and 21, respectively.

Since 1997, the annual JFF has grown to become one of the most anticipated film festivals in the country, attracting over 40,000 cinema goers during last year’s run.

blockbuster monster epics, according to JFF publicist Eunice Helera.

To open the regional festival is the Academy Award-winning film “Godzilla Minus One” directed by masterful Japanese director, Takashi Yamazaki.

According to Eunice, “Godzilla Minus One” has a poignant narrative and wonderful visuals that are best enjoyed in cinemas.

The other exceptional film lined-up in the fest is “Sand Land” (2023) directed by Akira Toriyama, the filmmaker who created the legendary “Dragon Ball” series. The film is a tribute to Toriyama who died in 2024 leafing a monumental legacy in the world of anime and manga.

Other movies assigned in this year’s JFF are “Perfect Days” (2023), “Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle” (2024), “Let’s Go Karaoke” (2024), “Matched” (2024) and the recently remastered version of the animated cult-classic “Akira” (1988).
