Ever since her movies were screened at a given Metro Manila Film Festival traditionally played in theaters on Christmastime from December 25 to the first week of January the following year, Vice Ganda has been proclaimed the Box-Office Queen of the Festival. Vice has conquered the hearts and minds not only of the kids--whose Christmas spirit is meant for--but adults alike.
It was only in 2016 when Ganda's film was snubbed by the Selection Committee.
The non-inclusion of her entry to the lineup contributed to the mild success of the festival that year.
Likewise, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, 2021, 2022 and even in the eased up health protocol on crowd gathering and congregation of 2023, Vice had no festival exposure until this year.
Everyone is asking, therefore, if her return to the local film event will still be a success.
Consider that an approach to her film narrative this time would tweak the usual comic situations she has been known for since writer and director Jun Robles Lana is her main storyteller and director.
But we trust Jun to enhance the quality of Ganda's collaborative participation in all aspects of production.
Lana knows how to play, adjust and respond to his material and audience.
