Aside from violating the latest GCQ guidelines, the guests of the two closed bars were caught partying and violating minimum health protocols, according to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

THE Quezon City government is preparing the filing of charges against the operators of two bars which were earlier ordered padlocked after videos and photos of guests partying in violation of health protocols surfaced in social media.

Aside from the closure, the city government has also stepped up its inspection of bars and other entertainment venues in the city to ensure that health protocols are strictly followed.

The city’s Business Permit and Licensing Department (BPLD) has issued temporary closure orders to G-Side Bar in Tomas Morato Avenue and Ciso's Gastrobar in Del Monte Avenue.

Aside from violating the latest GCQ guidelines, the establishments also violated the Public Safety Hours and minimum health protocols, according to Mayor Joy Belmonte.

“The patrons of these bars even had the audacity to post in social media their wanton violation of health and safety protocols, oblivious to the fact that there are more transmissible variants now and public safety remains at risk,” the mayor said.

“We support economic recovery and job creation but these should not be at the expense of public health. We will not hesitate to close down establishments if and when we find out these businesses are venues of super spreader events,” Margie Santos, BPLD head, added.

Also on July 9, the Quezon City Task Force Disiplina together with the Quezon City Police District apprehended several individuals operating bars and clubs during an inspection in Barangays Paligsahan and Timog.

Enforcers arrested the club manager, employees, and club guests of Chapparal KTV Ventures Inc., as well as 10 women workers who were turned over to QCPD Women’s Desk.

Authorities also issued Ordinance Violation Receipts against 55 employees of Baia Luna KTV Bar in Timog Avenue for violating public health protocols.

The enforcers also inspected nearby clubs and resto bars, where some individuals involved in the operation of these establishments were also apprehended for violating quarantine protocols.

The latest localized guidelines for General Community Quarantine issued by Mayor Joy Belmonte states that bars, karaoke bars, clubs, and concert halls are still not allowed to operate.

“We will file appropriate charges against the owners of these bars and clubs at the city prosecutor’s office for violating the GCQ guidelines set by the national and local government,” TF Disiplina head Ranulfo Ludovica said.

“Patuloy tayong magsasagawa ng operation at inspection sa mga establisimyentong ito dahil napakaraming violations ng mga ito, at hindi tayo titigil hangga’t maraming sumusuway sa ating protocols,” he added.

Mayor Joy Belmonte reiterated her call to the public to follow quarantine protocols.

“Lagi po namin pinapaalalahanan ang ating mga residente na sundin ang health protocols and guidelines, kapag bawal –bawal talaga. No one is exempted from the law, any person who will violate our protocols will be apprehended or will face charges,” she said.
