The project’s goal is to turn Quezon City as a model local government unit when it comes to pandemic response which other cities and municipalities in the country could adopt.

THE Quezon City government and the UP Pandemic Response Team (UP-PRT) have agreed to join forces in strengthening the local government’s fight against the disease.

“We thank the UP Pandemic Response Team for offering its assistance to the city government to boost our response and resiliency efforts,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

She said the UP-PRT, together with Unexus Medical Solutions Inc., committed to help the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), headed by Dr. Rolly Cruz, in implementing an end-to-end MedAlert COVID Testing and Contact Tracing Platform.

According to Dr. Cruz, the data gathered from the platform, together with the latest surveillance testing they are currently implementing, will help the local government decide on various issues, especially on granular lockdowns.

“With the help of UP-PRT, we can get a deeper understanding and thorough assessment that can help the city in deciding on its next moves, especially when it comes to granular lockdowns,” Dr. Cruz said.

Cruz added that the project’s goal is to turn Quezon City as a model local government unit when it comes to pandemic response other cities and municipalities in the country could adopt.

Others present during the meeting were Dr. Mahar Lagmay, Dr. Emmanuel Luna and Jude Agapito of the UP Pandemic Response Team, Cocoy Mercado of Unexus Medical Solutions and Joseph Juico, former Co-chair of QC Task Force Vax to Normal and the QC Pandemic Response team.
