In yet another string of woes at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the airport's Terminal 1 was left without water after a damaged main water pipe caused service interruptions last Wednesday, October 23.
The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the operator of the country's main gateway, said the pipe sustained a one-meter crack following the resumption of water service after a scheduled maintenance at Maynilad's Pasay plant, which lasted 17 hours, from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 p.m. of October 23.
The NNIC immediately deployed water tankers to ensure a steady supply to Terminal 1 while the damaged section of the pipe was being replaced.
"Our teams are working to replace the damaged pipe as quickly as possible. In the meantime, water tankers are providing water for restrooms and other essential areas. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the public's patience and understanding during this time," NNIC said in a statement.
NNIC added that technicians are on site preparing the area for the pipe replacement.
"Passengers are advised to cooperate with airport staff and conserve water during this time," NNIC added.
