IN what is more like an effort to find more sustainable sources of income to increase the retirement pension benefits of its members, the Social Security System (SSS) has intensified its campaign against business employers who have not been remitting their employees’ monthly SSS contributions.

In the cities of Parañaque, SSS served no less than 123 violation notices against business employers for failure to remit monthly contributions which they deducted from their employees.

In issuing violation notices to non-compliant employers, SSS Bicutan - Sun Valley branch head Juliet Bolinao claimed that P1.7 million in contributions deducted from 82 workers, along with corresponding penalties, went unpaid by the employers in Sun Valley and Merville.

Similarly, SSS also issued notices of violation against four delinquent employers, who have accrued P83 million in unpaid contributions which were deducted on a monthly basis from 2,438 employees.

Prior to the issuance of the violation notices, Victorina Pardo-Pajarillo, acting head of the south legal department, held discussions with representatives of the delinquent employers to address the outstanding contributions owed by their establishments.

Defiant employers, Bolinao added, would be facing civil and criminal cases for violating Republic Act 11199 (Social Security Act of 2018).

“We advise them to coordinate with the SSS NCR Large Accounts Department within the next 15 days to settle their contribution delinquencies and avoid facing civil and criminal cases.”
