: Very Peri is chosen as the color of 2022 for Pantone
FOR the first time in history, the color matching company has invented a new color, called Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri just for their Color of The Year program.
Very Peri has been announced as the Pantone Color Of The Year for 2022. It is meant to symbolize “personal inventiveness and creativity” through its “courageous presence”.
Pantone is the global color authority and provider of professional color language standards and digital solutions for the design community.
Pantone, which always waxes poetic about its Color of the Year, says the "inquisitive and intriguing" color displays "a care-free confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit."
The Pantone Color of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis.
To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences.
These can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations.
Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that impact color, relevant social media platforms, and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention.
Furthermore, Pantone says in a press statement that Very Peri "helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we rewrite our lives," referring to the worldwide changes of the last two years.
"Rekindling gratitude for some of the qualities that blue represents complemented by a new perspective that resonates today, Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri places the future ahead in a new light." they added.
At a time of NFTs, the Metaverse, and endless Zoom meetings, Very Peri reflects the increasingly blurry boundary between our physical and digital worlds.
In fact, the Pantone Color Institute realized that such an unprecedented time called for the introduction of a completely new color rather than one pulled from the massive brand’s extensive palette.
