Some important tips for local and international travelers were shared by AirAsia Philippines as the airlines ensures a hassle-free travel experience.
With an expected influx of travelers arriving and departing, especially now that the "Ber months" officially start next week, the airline rolled out the best hacks for its guests.
"At AirAsia, making sure every guest enjoys a safe, on time, and affordable flight is our top priority and this extends to their belongings aboard our aircraft as well. As part of our efforts to enhance our customers' peace of mind during their travels, we also aim to provide some useful tips to help each customer better prepare for their flight in order to ensure their baggage is well-cared off," said Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines Head for Communications and Public Affairs.
Safeguard your baggage for peace of mind with these top tips when preparing for your next flight:
• Valuables such as money and jewelry should always be kept close. These items are not only susceptible to damage but can sometimes also attract unwanted attention - so keep the bling on board and add these to your carry-on.
• Important papers like your passports, travel documents, boarding passes, and IDs are also best kept in your hand carry. Losing these items can lead to disruptions to your journey, or worse identity theft. Keep them within arm's reach always.
• Electronics and gadgets like laptops, tablets, and cameras should also be placed in your hand carry. Don't forget they have delicate and often fragile components.
• Medications such as prescription medicines, medical devices, and any other health-related items should also be kept in your hand luggage. It's essential to have immediate access to these in case of emergencies and to ensure your well-being.
Dailisan said when flying with AirAsia, all guests (except infants) are allowed to carry on board two pieces of cabin baggage, the total weight of both pieces must not exceed seven kilograms.
For larger, more cumbersome baggage, the airline offers passengers a flexible check-in allowance: get up to 60 kilograms with no limit on the number of bags checked in.
Once checked-in baggage is accepted by the red-and-white counters, it is turned over to the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) for added security inspections. "While these are essential, guests should keep in mind that baggage may be opened and inspected by the OTS before being cleared to fly."
Prohibited items are commonly returned to the check-in counters which sometimes cause delays, according to the airline. To ensure a safe and hassle-free trip, passengers should avoid bringing any of the following items: corrosive substances such as flammable and hazardous materials, mechanical tools, explosives, and the like.
Batteries and power banks are also strictly prohibited from being stored inside check-in baggage and should be kept in carry on.
According to OTS, a number of prohibited items seized in airports include live bullets and "non-live" bullets such as those kept as amulets ot gifts - passengers should avoid bringing such souvenirs as well.
