Nike is now on metaverse with ‘Nikeland’ landing in Roblox.

WELCOME to metaverse Nike!

The iconic shoe brand Nike gets its toes wet as in the metaverse universe with the introduction of ‘Nikeland.’

Roblox is an online game platform and game creation system founded in September 2006.

With a daily active-user base of 43.2 million, it’s one of the largest digital destination on the internet, boasting over 24 million user-created experiences.

These “experiences” range from amusement park building simulators to reimagined titles the likes of League of Legends and Call of Duty.

While the Roblox Corporation has implemented some guidelines onto the platform, in particular as it relates to what can be written and shared by players, it’s fostered a sense of creativity, imagination and expression that’s made Roblox the perfect backdrop for Nikeland.

The digital space, called Nikeland, allows players to outfit their avatar with special Nike products and is free for anyone to visit on Roblox.

Visitors can currently play Tag, The Floor Is Lava and Dodgeball on the platform, which also lets creators design their own mini-games from interactive sports materials.

Other features of Nikeland include the ability to move your device and body in real life and execute in-game moves such as long jumps or speed runs, peruse through the digital showroom to get dressed up in classic footwear pieces like the Air Force 1, Nike Blazer, Air Max 2021 or the official Mercurial football boot Roblox colorway and apparel products like the ACG line and Tech Pack offerings.

This proves how industry giants are slowly converting their companies to invest in the metaverse.

Earlier this month, probably the biggest leader in the metaverse, Facebook announced its new name ‘Meta.’

The metaverse, which Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is aiming for, is the name for a shared online 3D virtual space that a number of companies are interested in creating as a sort of future version of the internet.

The global metaverse market is expected to reach US$6.16 billion (S$8.3 billion) in 2021 and US$41.62 billion by 2026, according to research firm Strategy Analytics.
