San Pedro resident Erlinda Villalobos makes waves in new Brillante Ma. Mendoza film

Didn’t you know that a bona fide San Pedro City resident is a sought after film and television actress?

She’s none other than character actress and former radio talent Erlinda Villalobos who is featured in a new Brillante Ma. Mendoza film, “Bahay na Pula,” a Viva Entertainment project now streaming in Vivamax.

Erlinda, who resides in Maharlika Village near Calendola, plays Aling Ising, a caretaker who keeps a sensitive secret of an old house in a southern Tagalog province, particularly in Pola, Oriental Mindoro now part of MIMAROPA.

Ising was a comfort woman during the Japanese time and witness to the sexual abuses of Filipinas under the Jap soldiers whose head was her boyfriend unfortunately killed during the war. Because of her love for the Japanese officer, Ising wanted to possess a child which the beautiful granddaughter (played by Julia Barretto) of the old house owner begotten in mystical manner through the vengeful spirit of her longtime dead Jap lover.

As a matter of fact, Erlinda is a major character in the story and perceived as a lead star in the film.

“Naku, nahihiya ako ng mga papuri lalo na pag sinasabi ni Direk Brillante na magaling ako (Oh! I am embarrassed by the accolades especially when the director tells me I am excellent),” Villalobos said humbly.

The Villaloboses have been living in San Pedro for thirty one years.
