P40k shabu seized in Calamba City

Authorities recovered during the operation six sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, with a market value of over P40,800.

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Authorities seized a total of P40,800 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly known as shabu, during a buy-bust operation in this city Wednesday (October 6).

Laguna Police Provincial Director P/Col. Serafin Fortuno Petalio II identified the three suspects arrested during the operation as Kevin Garcia, 29 years old; Marivic Espayos, 44 years old; and Isagani Coronel, 47 years old; all residents of Laguna province.

In his report, Petalio said joint operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) under P/Maj. Ajalino Balaoro and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted a buy-bust operation at 12:16 p.m. in Barangay La Mesa that led to the arrest of the three suspects.

Authorities recovered during the operation six sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, as well as P500 in marked money.

The three suspects, who are now in custody at the Calamba City Police Station, will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
