Local officials in Laguna are scrambling to stop the apparent surge of Delta variant in the province after five additional cases have been reported.

HEALTH officials in Laguna province are now expressing concern over reports of additional cases of the more transmissible Covid-19 Delta variant in the province.

On Tuesday (July 27), San Pedro City reported three confirmed cases of the Delta variant, while Bay municipality reported two.

The San Pedro City Health Office did not report on where are the cases located, but said two of the cases have already recovered while another is on the "recovering stage" and is now asymptomatic.

The Bay Municipal Health Office, on the other hand, reported that one of the cases was an inmate of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) who allegedly caught the virus while he was being transferred.

The inmate has completed his two-week quarantine and has tested negative in his latest swab test.

The other case was an employee in the private sector who is now under isolation. (ONT)
