TO ADRRESS unemployment problem, the provincial government of Laguna recently launched the first online job-hunting portal in Calabarzon.

EXPECTATIONS ARE high that unemployment in Laguna caused by the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will finally be addressed with the recent launch of an online job portal in the province.

The portal could not have come at more appropriate time since the pandemic not only caused sharp economic downturn and limited job opportunities, but the health restrictions meant that job fairs and direct walk-in job hunting are no longer practical.

The solution of the provincial government of Laguna? An online job-hunting portal that will cater to Lagunenses.

The Province of Laguna Employment and Information System (PLEIS), launched the portal last February 5, to bridge the gap between local workforce and employers, especially in the time of the pandemic.

The online job portal, managed by the Provincial Public Employment Systems Office (PPESO) and the Management Information Systems Office (MISO), is the first in Calabarzon region, according to Governor Ramil Hernandez.

(James Veloso)
